\u2018Grafton Street Lights\u2018<\/strong> by Aim\u00e9e<\/strong> has been announced as the winner of the Kildare Village Christmas FM Song Contest 2023.<\/strong> Ireland\u2019s favourite festive radio station, which officially \u2018Switches Christmas On\u2019 around the country every year, attracts hundreds of entries annually in its quest to find Ireland\u2019s next Christmas hit. The winning song will spread festive cheer through the airwaves as it broadcasts to Christmas FM\u2019s Irish and international fans along with some familiar Christmas favourites such as Wham!, Mariah Carey and Brenda Lee.<\/p>\n

\u2018Grafton Street Lights\u2018<\/strong> was composed by Aim\u00e9e who is from Dublin and it is described as a love letter to Ireland. <\/strong>Aim\u00e9e says that she wrote the song for all of those people that have moved out of Ireland and miss home at Christmas time.<\/p>\n

Speaking about their song, <\/strong>Aim\u00e9e said:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“I feel extremely\u00a0grateful that Christmas FM listeners loved my song enough\u00a0to vote for it as the winning song this year!\u00a0I’m delighted that listeners related to my song and I\u2019m so glad that I decided to release it this Christmas.\u00a0Since I was a child, Christmas FM has been one of my favourite things about this time of year – for ‘Grafton Street Lights’ to be chosen as the winning\u00a0song is amazing, it’s a dream come true!”<\/em><\/p>\n

Christmas FM, which is celebrating its 16th<\/sup> year on air this year, has raised over three million euro for a range of charities since it began broadcasting. This year, Christmas FM will be continuing with their hugely successful \u2018Magic of Christmas\u2019 appeal, raising funds for Barnardos, Barretstown, Make-A-Wish Ireland and a range of children\u2019s charities around Ireland making a difference in local communities through Community Foundation Ireland.<\/p>\n

Last year, The Magic of Christmas appeal raised almost \u20ac300,000 for the charities and the fundraising initiative is hoping to raise over \u20ac1,000,000 between 2022 \u2013 2024 for Ireland\u2019s Children\u2019s charities and to maximise the impact of the funds raised by helping more children in need.<\/p>\n
